More than half of these parrots were recovered from illegal trafficking, abandoned, starved, dehydrated and physically abused. They were rescued by the authorities in the company of ARCAS.
After more than two years of recovery, they developed a healthy body condition, wild behavior, and flight ability.
Our monitoring team returned a week after release and 100% of the parrots had gone deep into the jungle. They found food and wild companions, completely disappearing from the release area.
We are very happy to return these lives to the forest and help preserve the biodiversity of Guatemala.
Thanks to Conap National Council of Protected Areas and @hsi_latinamerica for their continued support and trust in this process!
