ARCAS
Asociación Rescate y Conservación de Vida Silvestre
We are a Guatemalan, non-profit Civil Association, created for the rescue and conservation of wildlife, a product of seizures within illegal wildlife trafficking; as well as for the adequate management of ecosystems and strategic protected areas, for the generation of applied research, and for sustainable community development.
ARCAS is made up of a multidisciplinary professional team, who attend to the needs of rescued animals, the conservation of the environment and natural resources, as well as the development of alternative economic activities, among others.
Our Mission
Protect wildlife, conserving the ecosystems and biodiversity of Guatemala, guaranteeing the sustainable use of natural resources for future generations.
Vision
To be a leading organization in the rescue, rehabilitation, release and conservation of wildlife, through the implementation of innovative techniques in education, research and sustainable community development.
General Objective
Conserve ecosystems and biodiversity with the sustainable management of natural resources and livelihoods; protecting wildlife by promoting rescue, reproduction, rehabilitation and its consequent release.
ARCAS focuses its efforts on three primary program sites:
- Guatemala City
- Petén
- Hawaii, southern Pacific coast
These strategic locations serve as hubs for its conservation initiatives, allowing it to address various environmental challenges threatening the Guatemala’s invaluable ecosystems and wildlife, and helping marginalized communities develop in a sustainable way.
